Free Field Trips

INTRODUCE YOUR CLASSROOM OR GROUP TO THE WORLD OF HORSES

TAKE A FREE FIELD TRIP TO THE BURLINGTON CAPITAL INTERNATIONAL OMAHA HORSE JUMPING & DRESSAGE COMPETITION AND THE HORSE DISCOVERY ZONE.

 

Your group will have the unique opportunity of witnessing these magnificent animals and expert riders in action as well as participating in an extensive offering of equine educational exhibits. The Horse Discovery Zone is specially designed to engage and allow students the opportunity to learn about horse biology, nutrition, the history of the horse, careers in the equine industry, and more!

FIELD TRIP INFORMATION
The Omaha Equestrian Foundation provides FREE educational field trips to students and youth groups throughout the greater Omaha area and Southwest Iowa. 

Our field trips are designed to be self guided, however tour guides are available if requested.  Upon arrival, groups need to check in with our tour volunteers and will be provided with a map of educational exhibits and schedule of activities for escorting their groups. Volunteers will be located throughout the area to help guide you to your destinations. 
 
Groups can expect to spend 2-3 hours at the event.  Lunch space will not be available this year. Please plan to eat lunch before or after your field trip. 
 

With the holiday weekend we are aware some groups may be unavailable on Friday; to be courteous to all who want to visit we offer:

  • School Tours on Thursday April 9th

  • Home School, After-care programs, and other clubs/organizations on Friday and Saturday, April 10th and 11th

CHILDREN CAN EXPERIENCE HANDS-ON LEARNING IN THE 

HORSE DISCOVERY ZONE

GALLERY OF BREEDS - A face-to-muzzle experience with horses who are the best representation of their breeds.  Learn about their origin, unique personalities and characteristics, purpose for breeding and fun facts.

"HORSE OF COURSE" - Hands on interactive modules to learn about anatomy, tail-braiding, leg wrapping and more! 

Career Exploration - Learn more about careers in the horse industry

RIDING STYLE MUSEUMS - An interactive display of the tack and clothing teaches the differences between the English, Western and Dressage Disciplines.

BLACKSMITH SHOP - A modern-day blacksmith demonstrates this age-old craft. Hands-on opportunities to learn proper techniques on antique tools.

DEMONSTRATION ARENA - Educational demonstrations throughout the day with presentations on styles of riding, Parade of Breeds, vaulting, long-lining, grooming, driving and so much more! 

MINI-JUMPS - Children can test their jumping skills over mini jumps.

WARM-UP ARENA - Watch the riders warm up their horses before competition!
